Google Places is now Google+ Local. If your place page hasn't converted yet, it will be converting soon. You may need to "re-claim" your page
as the switchover continues over the following weeks and months.
- Google+ and Google+ Local are SEPARATE – merging options are on the way- If you’re a brand with multiple locations, create a
Google+ page for your brand and since you will want to rank locally for each location, create a Google+
Local page for each respective location for your brand
- Reviews on your new Google+ Local page can now only be submitted by Google+ account holders, making you sign up with Google+ to post a review
- If you’re a restaurant, Google+ Local is integrated with Zagat and their 30-point rating system for food/décor/service/cost
- The more your Google+ Local Page is filled out/optimized –the better it will rank –directly below the AdWords
campaigns, just like Google Place pages did
THE KEYS TO SUCCESS: Getting your Google+ Local Page to rank in the top results:
- Consistency, Consistency, Consistency
- The more links you have on your Google+ Local Page to other sites/pages proving your businesses' legitimacy online
– i.e. Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Yelp, CitySearch, etc. – the better your Google+ Local page will rank
- Active Facebook Page/Community
- Active Google+ Account
- Optimized website with Google Maps embedded and a domain name that has been around for a while (buying domains that have been around for
years at auction can help to kick start your ranking)
- Natural building of all of these pages over time will establish your authority – Google never rewards “one and done”
